Anatolian Languages and Cultures Panel VII

The “Anatolian Languages and Cultures Panel Series” within the scope of the Whispers of Extinct Languages III Online Exhibition continue!

The seventh of the panel series will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2025 at Rezan Has Museum with the speech of Asst. Prof. Armağan Tan from Istanbul University, Faculty of Letters, Department of History, Ancient History.

 In his speech titled “The Journey of the Urartian Language and Script in the Context of Propaganda and Property” Armağan Tan will talk about the language and writing of the Urartian Kingdom, which was founded on the shores of Lake Van in the 9th century BC and existed as a military and political power for two centuries. In the panel, cuneiform inscriptions reflecting the strategies, concerns and ideological discourses of the Urartian Kingdom, one of the important kingdoms of the Iron Age, will be evaluated in the context of propaganda and property.

*The panel will be held in Turkish. Participation is open to everyone and free.
