Anatolian Languages and Cultures Panel VI

The “Anatolian Languages and Cultures Panel Series” within the scope of the Whispers of Extinct Languages III Online Exhibition continue!

The sixth of the panel series will be held at Rezan Has Museum on Thursday, February 27, 2025, with the speech of Doctorand Ali Oğuz Bozkurt from Istanbul University, Faculty of Letters, Department of History, Chair of Ancient History.

Ali Oğuz Bozkurt will talk about Egyptian, one of the oldest written languages in the world, in his speech titled “Ancient Language of the Nile Valley: Language and Writing Systems of Ancient Egypt from Archaic Egyptian to Coptic”. In the panel, the adventure of Egyptian from the end of 3000 BC, when it first appeared, to the 19th century and the Ancient Egyptian civilization will be discussed. Writing systems, especially the Egyptian hieroglyphic script used in the writing of this language, Ancient Egyptian literature, and the process of re-disintegrating Egypt’s ancient writing systems after they were forgotten, will also be discussed in the panel.

*The panel will be held in Turkish. Participation is open to everyone and free.
