Anatolian Languages and Cultures Panel V

The “Anatolian Languages and Cultures Panel Series” within the scope of the Whispers of Extinct Languages III Online Exhibition continue!

The fifth of the panel series will take place at the Rezan Has Museum on Thursday, December 19, 2024, with the speech of Prof. Dr. Hasan Peker, from Istanbul University, Faculty of Letters, Department of Ancient Languages and Cultures, Chair of Hittitology.

In his speech titled “Anatolian Hieroglyphic Luwian Studies”, Prof. Dr. Hasan Peker will give information regarding the establishment of the Hittite State, the Anatolian Hieroglyphic Writing, which were invented in Anatolia and used for about 1000 years, and its written documents. In the panel; history of Anatolian Hieroglyphic Writing studies and recent discoveries, the connections between Hittite, Luwian, Hurrian and Anatolian Hieroglyphic Writing in the 2nd and 1st millenniums BC will be discussed.

*The panel will be held in Turkish. Participation is open to everyone and free.
